Someone mistook the Tesla Elon Musk sent into space for a space rock.

That is putting a spotlight on all the junk that is floating above our heads.

Allison Bamford - An asteroid and a Tesla can look similar in space…The Tesla is an artificial asteroid…Our garbage doesn’t disappear even in space. Space junk cluttering our sky is a concern Samantha Lawler has raised for years…In deep space where the Tesla is in orbit…it is less of a habit to drop on us, but it makes it harder to find the asteroids that are also orbiting the sun. Experts say it is important to get the numbers right when looking at how many asteroids that could pass near earth when there is junk in the way it makes those statistics murky’’ There is a problem with so much floating out is space it is hard to track them, “There are some data bases that trace some of the paths mainly Nasa probes. There is no international register that groups have to follow. We need to take a new look how we govern deep space. Johnathon McDowell estimates about 1000 objects orbit the sun paling in comparison to the 22,000 plus that orbit earth…If we send enough of these objects into space it is likely that some of these objects might collide with each other or with a spacecraft. As for the Tesla reports suggest that it won’t collide with anything for another 15 million years.”

Years ago, I watched a story that was adamant. With so many objects circling our earth it was only a matter of time that two would collide setting off a chain reaction. Debris from these satellites would keep striking other objects circling our earth until most of our satellites were destroyed.
